Harry Winks demands set after Tottenham and Everton transfer talks

Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to secure a £20m transfer fee for Harry Winks this summer - but Everton are instead keen on securing a loan deal for the midfielder.

As first reported by the ECHO last week, the Blues and Spurs have held talks over a move for the England international this summer. Frank Lampard has identified Winks as a player who can bolster his midfield options heading into the new season.

Winks would favour a move to Goodison Park and is keen to return to playing regular first-team football after being frozen out by Antonio Conte at White Hart Lane last season. The midfielder made just 19 Premier League appearances during the 2021/22 campaign.

But as well as attracting interest from the Blues, Winks is also being eyed by at least three other top-flight clubs, while Spanish side Sevilla have also expressed an interest. The 26-year-old still has two-years remaining on his Spurs contract.

But one way Spurs are looking to get around the differences in what both clubs want to do is by using Winks as part of a package for Anthony Gordon and Richarlison. It's understood that Spurs’ interest in both Gordon and Richarlison is genuine and the pair have been identified by the North London club as players who can help them kick on under Conte after they secured a top four finish under his guidance last season.

The ECHO understands that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy would have no hesitation in using the midfielder as part of a deal for the pair, or even one of them, preferably Richarlison, in the coming weeks. But as reported by the ECHO on Monday evening, Everton are not interested in selling Gordon in a double deal with Richarlison.

Former BBC North America Editor, Jon Sopel, claimed on Twitter on Wednesday morning that he saw Everton chairman Bill Kenwright and Spurs chief Levy having dinner together in Mayfair restaurant Scott’s on Monday night.

As well as attracting interest from Tottenham, the ECHO also understands that Chelsea are considering a summer swoop for Richarlison. Under their new owners, Chelsea are looking to revamp their forward line with Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling also on their radar.
