Prince Harry has been seen joking and reminiscing with his former Sandhurst instructor and Invictus Games competitors ahead of this month’s competition.
“Am I disturbing something? It looked like you guys were busy before I came on", the Duke joked as he opened the video call with the room full of sportsmen and women.
They are all due to take part in the upcoming Invictus Games this month from April 16 to 22.
The prince, who now lives in the US, even chatted and joked with his former Sandhurst trainer in the footage released by the Invictus Games today.
Towards the end of the endearing chat, he asked: “Is my PTI from Sandhurst in here somewhere?”
The crowd helped him spot her, before he laughed and said: ”There she is.”
He added: ”'I can't believe after, how many years, 15 years, our paths are about to cross again. You used to shout at me so much.”
However, the Duke appeared to be told that he needed the shouting at, as the crowd laughed.
Harry then replied: “I needed it. Yeah, cool. That's also fair enough.”
The Prince chatted with the competitors about what life had been like for them during Covid and the ensuing lockdowns which saw both 2020’s and 2021’s Invictus Games cancelled.
”You realise that none of you have any excuse for not being fit anymore, you’ve had two years.” The Prince joked.
Captain Rachael Williamson spoke about the “ups and downs” of the pandemic.
Harry added “You’ve obviously been selected as captain for this rowdy bunch behind you and it seems that you’re doing well because they’re all sitting down.”
She said was feeling “excited and nervous” about the upcoming games and leading as captain.
At one moment during the call Harry was awkwardly met with silence when he asked the group if they were feeling nervous or excited.
Not knowing who was supposed to reply, the crowd remained silent for a moment, before everyone started laughing.
“The silence says it all," the Prince said.
The Duke of Sussex made the video call as the members gathered for their final training camp before the events takes place later this month in the Netherlands.
Harry founded the games to help injured or sick military personnel and veterans from across the globe.
He did this by giving them a challenge and sporting competition similar to the Paralympics.
The Duke is set to travel out to attend the event, a decision which came shortly after he missed out on Prince Philip ’s memorial service over a row over his security.
