Harry Styles fever has well and truly swept Cardiff. The singer-songwriter, 29, performs the final UK dates of his Love On Tour show in the Welsh capital on Tuesday, June 20 and Wednesday, June 21 at the Principality Stadium.
It’s safe to say that people are more than a little excited to see the former One Direction star, with some even sleeping rough ahead of his shows. The current tour, which is Harry’s second, began in 2021 after being postponed twice due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It was the first full capacity indoor arena concert cycle to happen in the United States in the aftermath of the pandemic.
The tour grossed a total of $95 million and sold 719,000 tickets from 42 shows performed in North America from September to November 2021. The tour then made another $55 million and sold 638,000 tickets from the 23 shows performed in Europe from June to July 2022. Last week, Harry played four dates at London’s Wembley Stadium. The Mirror’s Amber O’Connor attended the first of the four sold out nights and said: “Styles and his team went all out to welcome fans to 'Harry's House' - to create an experience that felt like coming home.”
Amber cited chart-topping song As It Was, crowd-favourite Medicine, and the firework-backed Sign of the Times as “standouts”. She also enjoyed Matilda - a heartfelt song about the family we choose - saying that it “perfectly encapsulated the atmosphere in the stadium where Styles told fans to ‘feel free to be who you've always wanted to be.’”
As always, Harry will interact with his fans during the show. Amber described how at one point during the Wembley gig, the singer helped someone come out. She recalled: “I'll never forget the look on the face of a young fan named Evie, who celebrated coming out during the show. As Styles explained to the audience during their heartwarming exchange, Evie held a sign that read: ‘Seeing as it is Pride Month can you help me come out?’
“Styles happily obliged, triumphantly raising a Pride flag onstage on Evie's behalf while the crowd cheered their congratulations.” Let us know in the comments whether you’re going to one of Harry’s Cardiff shows.
