The new trailer for the highly-anticipated My Policeman film starring popstar Harry Styles and The Crown's Emma Corrin has been released. Their characters Tom and Marion, along with David Dawson (Luther, The Last Kingdom) in the role of Patrick, will be embroiled in a complex love triangle in the Prime Video movie.
The film has been based on the book from Bethan Roberts and will see 28-year-old singer Harry, also known for acting roles in Dunkirk and Eternals, take center stage as he plays a 1950s' police officer. While 26-year-old Emma, best known for playing Princess Diana, will star as his wife Marion.
Forty-year-old actor David plays museum curator Patrick, who Harry's character falls in love with in a time when homosexuality was illegal. Fans have now been given a glimpse at what they can expect from the film when it drops on Prime Video in November.
The trailer shows clips of Tom and Marion's happy marriage as the police officer slowly begins a romance with Patrick, who is later accused by Marion of trying to “destroy” their relationship.
“This love is all-consuming,” David Dawson is heard saying, over close-up intimate footage. “I pity people who don’t know what it feels like to be this in love.” A clip later shows Harry Styles angrily saying: “You know nothing about being married so stop telling me what I’m supposed to think about it.”
Linus Roache, Gina McKee and Rupert Everett have also been cast to play older versions of Harry, Emma and David's characters in the 1990s. They can be seen in trailer as Gina, who plays an older Marion, says: "He was always in your life. In our lives."
In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine last month, Harry said that he viewed the My Policeman story about love and “wasted time”. “It’s obviously pretty unfathomable now to think, ‘Oh, you couldn’t be gay. That was illegal’," He said.
"I think everyone, including myself, has your own journey with figuring out sexuality and getting more comfortable with it," the former One Direction star continued: "It’s not like ‘This is a gay story about these guys being gay’. It’s about love and about wasted time to me.”
The pop star, who released his third studio album Harry's House earlier this year, is also starring in Olivia Wilde’s psychological thriller Don’t Worry Darling alongside Florence Pugh. The film, which has been the subject of much recent media attention recently following reports of behind-the-scenes tension, debuted at the Venice International Film Festival on Monday and is due to be released in UK cinemas later this month.
My Policeman is set to premiere in select theatres on October 21 and on Prime Video on November 4.
