Harry Styles fans got engaged at his Manchester gig - and the reaction has gone viral

This is the magical moment that two Harry Styles fans got engaged at the close of the star's huge homecoming show in Manchester this week. Thousands of fans whooped and cheered and captured the moment right across the Emirates Old Trafford stadium.

Lewis Vosper, 24, got down on one knee to the amazement of his girlfriend Maeve Frances, 25, as the lights came up at the concert, as fans all around looked on. Videos and photos captured of the moment by Harry fans swiftly went viral - with over 1mn views on a video that Maeve shared on her TikTok account.

Now, the newly-engaged couple have revealed more about their unique engagement story. And also how it almost didn't happen at all - after pop idol Harry failed to play Maeve's all-time favourite song Fine Line at the Wednesday night show.

Lewis knew that Fine Line was Maeve's favourite Harry song, and had studied Harry's Love on Tour setlist to plan when to pop the question to Maeve after three years together. But when Harry failed to play Fine Line on his opening night in Manchester, it left Lewis pondering when to make the romantic proposal.

Lewis, a barista from Bodmin, Cornwall, said: "I had planned it all out to propose during Fine Line as I knew it was Maeve's favourite song. I'd seen on the setlist for his previous show at what point he was going to sing it - but it didn't come on.

"So I waited and waited, and thought maybe he'll come back and do it in the encore but he didn't. All the exit lights were turned on and I was like oh it's got to be now or never!

"But I'm kind of glad I did it like that now, because if I'd done it half way through the show no one would have even noticed. It was so surreal for so many people to take pictures, we were right in the middle of the stadium and everyone all around was cheering. "

Stunning photos and videos of the proposal were swiftly shared, and it has left Lewis and Maeve feeling so grateful that they will be able to keep such special memories of their magical moment. Maeve said: "When we were driving back home in the car, we just started to think about what an amazing thing just happened.

"To have such massive documentation of a special moment, that we just wouldn't have had if we did done it in any other way. We've got so many pictures and videos that we'll be able to show our children one day."

Maeve shared the video on her TikTok which went viral after the concert. She said: "The comments have just been amazing. I thought just family and friends would like it, but I woke up this morning to see it had been liked over 1mn times I couldn't believe it."

Maeve, a student mental health nurse, explained that she had wondered if he was planning a proposal as they made their way up to Manchester for the gig from their home in Cornwall. Unbeknownst to Maeve, Lewis had already told their friends and family of his plans to propose during Fine Line at the concert.

Maeve said: "The show was over and the lights came up, and Lewis suddenly bent down and I literally thought he was tying his shoelaces. I was saying 'c'mon we have to go now'. And then I realised what was happening, it all clicked.

"Everyone was screaming around us. It was such a massive blur, it felt like seconds but I think we were there quite a while, I didn't actually say anything I couldn't get my words out.

"But he knew I would say yes, there was no way I could say no, especially in front of so many people! I love him so much that it was always going to be a yes."

Both Lewis and Maeve describe themselves as "equally passionate" Harry Styles fans. And since posting the videos and pictures, some fans have even been saying they think Lewis looks like the Holmes Chapel-raised superstar.

Maeve said: "Lewis loves Harry just as much as I do, it's really nice. A lot of people might think 'oh you've dragged your poor boyfriend along' but he was just as excited and enjoying the music as much as me."

Even Lewis's outfit was a tribute to Harry. He was wearing a similar blue necklace to the one that Harry wears in his Golden music video.

Maeve's mum paid for the tickets to the Harry Styles concert - and they headed up to Manchester to see the show as Lewis is doing a 110-mile charity bike ride around Dartmoor this weekend so they knew they wouldn't be able to go to Harry's London shows.

Maeve said: "I feel very, very lucky just being at the concert alone it meant so much to me, even without the proposal, because Harry's music means quite a lot to me. Particularly the song that Lewis was going to propose to me.

"We had talked about getting married a lot before, so I kind of had a feeling it was coming. When we got the tickets for Harry I said 'wouldn't it be great if you proposed to me during Fine Line' and he kind of said "what"? But then he started speaking about it to my friends without me realising.

"I'd revised the setlist after Glasgow, and when Fine Line didn't come on at the Manchester gig, in my head I was thinking 'oh if he's going to propose to me he won't do it now'.

"But now I know that In his head he was like 'oh gosh what do I do now'. I had other song choices, I also love Matilda, but Harry had already played that before he realised Fine Line wasn't coming on."

The couple have been friends for years, but had lost touch until three years ago when they reconnected and became boyfriend and girlfriend. Now they say they will look to plan a wedding after Maeve has qualified as a nurse next year to give them time to save up for their big day.
