Harry Styles put his acting skills to good use in a hidden camera prank masterminded by Ellen DeGeneres.
During an appearance on DeGeneres’ chat show, the former One Direction star, 25, wore an earpiece so that the presenter could tell him what to do when a pizza delivery man arrived at his dressing room.
On DeGeneres’ instructions, Styles greeted him with a series of fist bumps and kept referring to him as “bro,” before telling him that his “entourage” was stuck in traffic and asking him if he would stay as Styles is “not used to being alone.”
They then opened up the pizza boxes, with DeGeneres prompting Styles to eat the takeaway in a series of increasingly bizarre ways, first rolling tiny segments around the box, then stacking small pieces on top of one another and finally putting an entire slice in his mouth.
DeGeneres then told Styles to say “I’ve got to be honest with you” before going quiet, leaving the musician with a very awkward silence to fill. He improvised by telling the delivery man that he “love[s] pizza, bro,”
He proceeded to wax lyrical about other foods that can be eaten with cheese, fully committing to the stunt by seeming to become tearful at the thought.
DeGeneres asked him to tell his companion that he had recently learned “the most interesting fact about cheese,” but then went silent again, leaving Styles to pretend that he’d forgotten it, improvising by shouting “Why do you always do this!”
Styles then finally admitted what had been going on, telling his new friend: “One more thing bro. You’re on The Ellen Show right now and she’s been telling me what to say and do this whole time.”
They then walked on to the chat show set together carrying the pizza boxes and proceeded to hand out slices to the audience.
Later in the show, Styles successfully shut down DeGeneres’ questions about his friendship with model Kendall Jenner.
