Harry Redknapp on 'difficult' divorce for Jamie and Louise Redknapp

Harry Redknapp said his son Jamie's divorce was "difficult" for the family.

Jamie and Louise tied the knot back in 1998 and remained together until 2017. The divorce came as a shock to fans and family alike but his parents, Harry and Sandra Redknapp, vowed they would "never interfere" in his son's relationship.

The pair spoke candidly on the breakup in their new book, stating it was a "difficult" time for everyone. Harry said: "It was difficult when Jamie and Louise got divorced because both sets of our parents were married until they died, so we weren't used to that."

Despite the public breakup, they confirmed that everyone involved has remained on good terms with each other. Jamie remarried in 2019 to model Frida Andersson but Louise said she needed to take time away from the dating scene to be a parent to her children.

Speaking to Hello!, she said: "I've felt this as a mum and, to say this in the most sort of respectful way, my boys' lives changed dramatically and then it changed again when obviously Jamie got married and had a family.

"Their life changed and I felt like I needed to be their one staple. That's just something I think a lot of mums would feel."

Harry and Sandra spoke of their own relationship in their new book, When Harry Met Sandra, a tell-all about the ups and downs of their relationship. The book touches on the milestones they've enjoyed together including their wedding, becoming parents, and the little things they still find to love about each other.
