Harry Redknapp hails Leeds United's 'very good bit of business' in the January transfer window

Harry Redknapp says Max Wober is a 'very good bit of business' for Leeds United, as he named the Austrian defender in his Premier League team of the week.

Wober kept a clean sheet on his first Premier League start in the Whites' goalless draw against Brentford at Elland Road on Sunday.

The 24-year-old came off the bench in his first two outings against Cardiff City and Aston Villa, before being named in the starting line-up for their 5-2 win over Cardiff in last week's FA Cup replay.

He was replaced in the 57th minute after picking up a knock, but any fears that he was set for a spell on the sidelines were put to bed when he was declared fit in Jesse Marsch's pre-match press conference.

"He’s just joined the club, but he’s already making an impact. I thought he was superb against Brentford. He was strong in the tackle and looked very composed on the ball. He looks like a very good bit of business for Leeds.” Redknapp wrote in his Bet Victor column.

Leeds paid in the region of £11 million to prise Wober away from Red Bull Salzburg earlier this month. He has made a good early impression at Elland Road, and helped them keep just their fourth shutout of the season against Thomas Frank's side.

Redknapp PL Team of the Week: Pope (Newcastle); Lewis (Man City), Thiago Silva (Chelsea), Richards (Crystal Palace), Max Wober (Leeds); Douglas Luiz (Aston Villa), Kaoru Mitoma (Brighton); Jarrod Bowen (West Ham), Marcus Rashford (Man United), Erling Haaland (Man City), Eddie Nketiah (Arsenal).
