Harry Potter star is admitted to hospital with chest infection

A well-known Harry Potter star has been admitted to hospital after suffering with a chest infection. Miriam Margolyes, aged 81, told fans she has to stay in longer than she expected, explaining she "can't come home yet".

The much-loved actress shared a picture from her hospital bed as she updated fans and thanked people for their continued support. She thanked her "precious friends" who thought of her on "TAVI DAY", which stands for transcatheter aortic valve implantation.

In her Facebook post, she wrote: "‘I did survive and am still in The Royal Brompton Hospital certainly till Sunday. I am growing energy but it’s still not quite me. I am putting this so you know how grateful I am for lovely messages.

Miriam said she will "slowly’" be getting back to her various projects, including a book tour. She then ended her post with "loving hugs," reports the Mirror.

On Monday (May 8) Miriam posted about her hospital admission. She said: "Heartfelt thanks to all my wonderful friends who sent messages and to the very fine doctors and nurses at the RBHT who put up with me and put a TAVI in the LAVVY. HUGS. MM."

Miriam updated her followers soon after saying: "‘I spoke too soon. Can’t come home yet: I have a chest infection. Probably tomorrow. But at least I’m resting. Love to all. Thank you for your lovely messages."

One fan quickly responded: "Thanks for the update, glad you are getting time to rest even if you are being made to do it. much love rest well and then onward."

Another added: "Sending lots of nursing healing blessings your way!!," whilst a third commented: "Sorry for the delay in going home. You will bounce back. Wishing you a speedy recovery."

Miriam is best known for playing Professor Sprout in the Harry Potter series.
