Behind the scenes of the phenomenal franchise Harry Potter films a trio of stars had previously been caught up in a heartbreaking love triangle.
With such a large and dedicated fan base, viewers are keen to find out every little detail about the personal and private lives of the Harry Potter cast.
Oscar winning actress Emma Thompson appeared in three of the Harry Potter films and had previously been to married renowned actor and director Kenneth Branagh, who also appeared in one of the wizard movies.
Once considered Hollywood's couple' after marrying in 1989, they split in 1995 long before the Harry Potter franchise hit cinemas.
Kenneth appeared as Gilderoy Lockhart in the second film, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, while Emma made her debut as divination teacher Professor Trelawney in the third film, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
Emma and Kenneth's relationship hit the rocks in 1995 and they were hit by rumours he was involved with another actress who went on to star in the Harry Potter movies - Helena Bonham Carter.
Helena was pictured kissing Kenneth in 1996 - a year after his split from Emma - and they went public with their romance in 1997 before splitting in 1999.
She was later cast as villain Bellatrix Lestrange in the Harry Potter franchise.
Although the breakdown of her marriage was deeply upsetting for Emma, she managed to channel her heartache into another role in hit rom-com Love Actually character on her real life experience.
She told Glamour Magazine: "That scene where my character is standing by the bed crying is so well known because it’s something everyone’s been through,” the actor said.
"I had my heart very badly broken by Ken. So I knew what it was like to find the necklace that wasn’t meant for me.
"Well it wasn’t exactly that, but we’ve all been through it."
Although Emma, Helena and Kenneth never appeared in scenes together, it’s impressive that the trio were able to put their past behind them to make the films a roaring success.
Emma has reportedly forgiven Helena - she told the Sunday Times she has "made her peace" with Helena and described her as a "wonderful woman".
"You can't hold on to anything like that,” Emma said.
"It's pointless. I haven't got the energy for it."
Emma went on to find happiness with actor Greg Wise and they have been married for more than 25 years.
Greg is currently starring in Strictly Come Dancing paired with pro dancer Karen Hauer.
