Leeds Rhinos centre Harry Newman will go for a scan on Monday to determine the extent of a hamstring injury which forced the centre from the field in Sunday's pre-season clash with Hull FC.
Newman was withdrawn midway through the first half of the 38-6 win against the Black and Whites and headed straight down the Headingley tunnel for assessment.
He didn't return for the remainder of the game, and Leeds assistant coach Sean Long confirmed the Rhinos now face a nervous wait to discover just how serious the injury is.
"He felt his hamstring tighten up so we didn't want to risk him - we'll send him for a scan," Long said. "With it tightening up in a testimonial match we didn't want to risk him. We don't know what the damage is yet."
The injury to Newman was the only dampener on another positive pre-season performance from Leeds, who made light work of an under-strength Hull side in Tom Briscoe's testimonial match.
New half-back pairing Blake Austin and Aidan Sezer were among the try-scorers, while Jack Walker also made his first Headingley appearance since a long-term absence from the sport due to injury. "He looked sharp," Long said of Walker.
"He's showed some lovely touches against Bradford (last weekend) and he looked good again here. He came on at a good time for us, and he's been working really hard in pre-season."
Walker's return, coupled with an impressive display from Richie Myler, leaves Rhinos coach Richard Agar - who was absent at Sunday's game after returning a positive Covid test - with a dilemma over who to select at fullback for the season opener against Warrington in a fortnight's time.
"We'll see how we go," Long said when asked about who could start at fullback. "We've not made any decisions over whether we choose Richie or Jack - we'll see. Sometimes you might have a different plan against a team for example; they'll both play a part this season."
