Harry Newman could be in line to make his first Leeds Rhinos appearance of the season this Friday. The centre, who has spent the off-season recovering from a serious hamstring injury, has been named in Rohan Smith's 21-man squad to take on local rivals Wakefield Trinity on Friday night.
But the end of Newman's injury nightmares could be in sight, with him included in Smith's squad for the first time this season. Smith has previously revealed that Newman had been closing in on a return to full fitness, and it now appears as though he will feature in a match-day 17 for the first time in 2023.
But Newman's return is not the only boost for Smith. Hooker Corey Johnson is also available to return to a Smith 21-man squad in time to face Mark Applegarth's side, while James Bentley is also again included after continuing his recovery from a knee injury.

Morgan Gannon remains unavailable as he continues his return to play protocol from the head injury suffered against Hull FC.
Wakefield, meanwhile, will be without winger Lewis Murphy. He has added to their growing injury list after suffering an ACL injury which has all-but ended his 2023 campaign.
