Harry McKirdy Hibs transfer is back ON with deal thought to be close but time running out

Harry McKirdy's Hibs transfer is sensationally back on after appearing to bed dead just hours ago.

The former Swindon Town forward was in Edinburgh for a medical today as talks with the Robins continued ahead of his expected switch, However, reports then emerged that negotiations had broken down over the fee, leaving Lee Johnson in a race against time to try and source an alternative option. The Hibees het Christian Doidge join Kilmarnock on a season-long loan yesterday in the expectation that McKirdy would sign, only for things to go south.

However, the clubs have since got back around the table to try thrash out a deal. Record Sport understands they are close to a mutually satisfactory agreement, and McKirdy could sign on in Leith ahead of the deadline closing at midnight. The forward would then join up with fellow frontmen Elle Youan, Martin Boyle and Bojang Momodou ahead of Saturday's Premiership clash with Kilmarnock, which could see him make his debut.

That's depending on the paperwork being done before the window closes, however. Delays mean that the Hibees are in a race against time to ensure everything is signed and sent, with McKirdy still in the capital and hoping a late deal can get over the line.

The Easter Road club are also working on a loan deal for Manchester United defender Will Fish. Johnson wants another defender after Rocky Bushiri suffered an ankle injury at the weekend.
