Harry Maguire reveals what Ralf Rangnick said at half-time in Manchester United's Leeds win

Harry Maguire has revealed that Manchester United players were told they had to score more goals in order to defeat Leeds United at half-time.

The instructions from Ralf Rangnick ended up being salient as United once again crumbled after the break to squander the advantage they'd earned in the opening 45 minutes.

Headers from Maguire and Bruno Fernandes had put United in a commanding position at the break as well as taking the sting out of a volatile atmosphere at Elland Road.

But just after the restart Leeds mounted a remarkable comeback with Rodrigo and Raphina scoring within 24 seconds of each other to level the game.

It looked as though United would be lucky to escape Yorkshire with a point but Rangnick kept his composure and made changes that tipped the game back into his side's favour.

Eyebrows were raised when Fred came on for the excellent Paul Pogba but the Brazilian needed just three minutes before he fired United back in front.

Then in the closing stages, Anthony Elanga sealed the win with a cool, slotted finish.

Captain Maguire was pleased with the character United showed after facing the sep back and disclosed what was discussed in the changing room at the break.

"Yeah, I think that's the most pleasing aspect, to be fair, of the game," he told Sky Sports.

"We've got to start the second-half better for sure, they come right on top of us and the first goal obviously is really lucky on their behalf it gets them right back in the game.

"Then they scored a good goal and we had to stick together. We knew it's a tough place to come but we know we had qualities and that we could hurt them.

"We spoke about it at half-time that we need to score more goals in the second-half and we managed to do that."
