Harry Maguire is off on honeymoon after his “fairytale” wedding to Fern Hawkins... with the blessing of his new boss.
The England star posted a photo of his £250,000 do at Chateau de Varennes in Burgundy, France, calling it: “A day I’ll never forget”. Fern added an image of them walking side by side with the message: “I married the love of my life.”
Maguire’s post instantly racked up the likes, including one from his sister Daisy, 21. She was a bridesmaid while the couple’s daughters Lillie Saint, three, and two-year-old Piper Rose were flower girls. Not even pouring rain could dampen the spirits of guests on Saturday as the happy couple prepared to fly off to the Amalfi Coast in Italy tomorrow.
And new Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has given Maguire permission to return to training late if he needs to.
A club insider said: “He does not have to return until next week even though ten Hag wanted them in early. Harry always keeps in shape and was out jogging with Jordan Pickford in France.”
England keeper Pickford was one of the guests at Saturday’s shindig at the 18th century chateau.
It is understood the Maguires wrote some of their own vows and chose a singer for the ceremony. The men wore matching light grey suits, and the party dined outdoors next to a huge floral display.
They had exchanged vows at a register office in Crewe, Cheshire, last month to provide them with a UK marriage certificate.
But they regarded the French ceremony as their real “wedding day”.
The couple are fully fledged Francophiles, with Maguire proposing to Fern in Paris in February 2018.
