Harry Maguire, Fred, Edinson Cavani - Man United injury round-up and return dates vs Brentford

Manchester United are hoping for a double fitness boost to ease their injury crisis before the Premier League game against Brentford on Monday night (8pm). United were without SEVEN players during their 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Old Trafford as they prepare for their final outing at the same venue this season.

Harry Maguire (knee) and Jadon Sancho (illness) are among those set to continue on the sidelines - but there could be welcome returns for Fred and Edinson Cavani (both calf) against the Bees. Here is the current state of play on the Carrington treatment table after United interim manager Ralf Rangnick provided an update.

Harry Maguire

Injury: Knee

Possible return date: May 7 vs Brighton (A)

What Rangnick has said: "He has some issues with his knee - not a big thing - some niggles in his knee."

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Injury: Knock

Possible return date: May 2 vs Brentford (H)

What Rangnick has said: "We have quite a few players missing. We will have to wait and see tomorrow if Aaron Wan-Bissaka can be available."

Luke Shaw

Injury: Leg

Return date: TBC

What Rangnick has said: "We had to take him off at half-time [against Leicester] as he's having problems with his leg where had an operation back in 2015. Yeah, the doctor told me that they decided to remove the metal thing in his leg, there are two bolts that need to be removed and this will happen tomorrow [April 9] and that means he will be out for the next two or three weeks."

Fred

Injury: Calf

Return date: May 2 vs Brentford (H)

What Rangnick has said: "I hope Fred will make it for the Brentford game. Thursday night was too early for him."

Paul Pogba

Injury: Calf

Return date: TBC

What Rangnick has said: "He seems to have problems with his calf. He won't be available for tomorrow [May 2] and most likely not for the upcoming games."

Jadon Sancho

Injury: n/a (tonsillitis)

Return date: TBC

What Rangnick has said: "As it seems, Jadon might be out for the rest of the season with this tonsillitis, so he will most likely be not available against Brentford. He definitely has an inflammation on his tonsils and he also had some high temperatures. He almost certainly won't be available for the next couple of games."

Edinson Cavani

Injury: Calf

Return date: May 2 vs Brentford (H)

What Rangnick has said: "The question is he has been missing for the last four or five weeks. Is he really a player who could then play against Brentford? Probably not to start with, but at least from the bench."
