Harry Maguire disagrees with officials after two disallowed Manchester United goals vs Burnley

Manchester United captain Harry Maguire says he does not understand why match officials disallowed two goals for his side against Burnley on Tuesday night.

United dropped two points at Turf Moor after they failed to build upon a dominant first-half performance in which Paul Pogba gave them a deserved 1-0 lead.

Pogba's calm finish came just minutes after Raphael Varane had seen a back-post header ruled out for a foul in the build-up when Maguire was adjudged to have blocked the run of Burnley forward Jay Rodriguez.

After a lengthy VAR check, on-field referee Mike Dean ruled out the goal, telling the United captain he had done so because he was interfering with play rather than because of a possible offside.

Ralf Rangnick's side had the ball in the back of the net again before half-time when Ben Mee netted an own goal, but that was also ruled out when the linesman flagged for a foul in the build-up by Pogba.

It meant United went into half-time with just a one-goal lead, and they would pay the ultimate price when Rodriguez netted an equaliser after some poor defending.

Speaking after the match, Maguire was quizzed on the disallowed goals and why they hadn't been given.

"I think he gave it offside," he told BT Sport. "He said it wasn't a foul. Interfering with play, I don't know. I actually made my run earlier and it didn't end up being a little bit of a block. I don't think Rodriguez would have affected the goal from which Rafa scored.

"I think the other one for which Paul's judged to have fouled. It was definitely not a foul."
