Harry Maguire could lead huge Man Utd exodus with Erik ten Hag ready to sell 13 players

Harry Maguire could be one of 13 men to leave Manchester United this summer as Erik ten Hag prepares for his second summer as manager.

The centre-half, who was a favourite under the previous regime, has been resigned to the bench for much of the campaign despite still being the club captain. Maguire is seeking more minutes and could eye a new challenge in the coming months in one of several possible high profile exits.

Ten Hag spent over £200m in his first summer, bringing in the likes of Lisandro Martinez, Antony and Casemiro. The Dutch coach has delivered silverware and looks set to register a top four finish, but major improvements are still needed if United are to challenge neighbours Manchester City.

After almost a year in charge Ten Hag has been able to observe his players in training and in matches and is ready to sanction several exits, which could see more than ten players leave. Anthony Martial, Diogo Dalot, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Fred, Scott McTominay, Donny van de Beek, Anthony Elanga and Brandon Williams all have uncertain futures at Old Trafford, as per the Daily Mail.

Martial has struggled to produce in the final third with scoring goals a major problem for the team, especially when Marcus Rashford is absent. Dalot and Wan-Bissaka have shared the right-back spot with neither man making the role their own this term.

Fred and McTominay, who were regulars under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, have been dislodged by Casemiro and Christian Eriksen whilst more central midfield reinforcements could be sought. Van de Beek may have thought more minutes would come his way after teaming up with Ten Hag once again after they'd spent time together at Ajax, but that has not been the case.

Phil Jones, who has dealt with lengthy injury problems, has already seen his departure announced this summer whilst several other defenders could follow him out the door. Axel Tuanzebe, Eric Bailly and Alex Telles have all gone out on loan in search of more minutes this term.

The trio will return in the coming weeks but they could be offloaded with United well stocked in central defence, where Martinez and Raphael Varane have established themselves as the key duo under Ten Hag.

United could yet make a marquee signing this summer with Neymar linked with a switch to Manchester. Ten Hag has refused to rule out that possibility with the Brazilian potentially leaving PSG this summer. He remains the world's most expensive player and is a quality operator despite failing to deliver what he planned in Paris.
