Harry Kewell will improve these three Celtic players, says Dundee United's Mark Connolly

Harry Kewell will improve these three Celtic players, says Dundee United's Mark Connolly

DUNDEE UNITED defender Mark Connolly is condifent that newly-appointed Celtic coach Harry Kewell will be able to make a telling impression in his new role.

The United centre-half worked with the former Australia internationalist at previous club Crawley Town and has experienced the 43-year-old's methods first hand.

The Premiership champions flew out to Austria on Monday to begin pre-season with Ange Postecoglou and his coaching staff whipping the players into shape ahead of the new campaign.

And Connolly - now on loan at Dundalk - thinks there are three players in particular who will benefit from the former Leeds United winger's expertise on the training pitch.

"He [Kewell] has played at the highest level," he told the Daily Record.

"He has been one of the best wingers in the English Premier League of his era, been in a Champions League final and is one of the best-ever Australian footballers.

"I can see Harry really helping Celtic’s attacking players and I believe there will be a big improvement, even from last season when they won the title.

"Jota has just signed a four-year deal last week. For a player like that to work with Harry everyday you will see a different player.

"Ange Postecoglou has already made big changes and taken Celtic forward. The introduction of Harry will keep that going.

"I think you will see a difference in the likes of Jota and Liel Abada and James Forrest.

"It might even just be subtle things but they will help players who are already at the top level."
