Harry Kewell explains Celtic 'wow' factor he saw on day one as Hoops chance 'what I needed'

Harry Kewell says even the basic essentials of life at Celtic gave him a reminder of what life is like at the top level.

Parkhead boss Ange Postecoglou brought in his Australian countryman as a first-team coach earlier this summer after mixed managerial stints at lower league English sides Oldham, Notts County, Crawley Town and Barnet. Kewell's playing career saw him star for big guns like Galatasaray and Liverpool and after an absence from such environments, his Celtic stint has been an eye opener. Learning from Postecoglou has provided its benefits alongside the new wardrobe he's picked up.

He told Football Coaches Australia: "Being at Celtic now, it is a totally different ball game. You are working at the top level. I remember walking in on my first day. I brought my boots, my shorts, a training kit. I brought everything and I walked into my locker.

"There were about 10 piles of clothes, brand new boots, brand new everything. I was like 'oh yeah, wow!' I didn't have to bring a sandwich in as there was a canteen of hot food!

"You forget so it's completely different. Sometimes at that level, people in other roles are doing it for themselves. At a professional club, everyone is on the same page., working for the same goal.

"This role when it came about with Ange, I think this is what I needed to see what a top manager does, and how he handles certain things. This is the first time I have really had a chance to talk football."
