Harry Kane overtook Thierry Henry in the all-time Premier League goal charts with a brace against Everton - and already has another legend in his crosshairs.
Goals number 175 and 176 in the Tottenham star’s league career arrived on Monday night in typical fashion, with a cool finish when facing down Jordan Pickford one-on-one before a smart volley to make it 5-0.
That put Kane past Arsenal icon Henry, who achieved his feat in only ten fewer appearances than the Spurs man’s 268.
“Thierry was one of the greatest Premier League strikers we’ve seen, so to go above him now is a nice little milestone,” he told Sky Sports after the game.
Kane is now sixth in the all-time scorer list, which is headed by Alan Shearer on 260 goals.
Wayne Rooney, Andy Cole and Sergio Aguero follow before Chelsea icon Frank Lampard, who may find himself out of the top five sooner rather than later.
Lampard’s lead over Kane sits at just a single goal ahead of Tottenham’s clash with Manchester United on Saturday, after his brace against the former midfielder’s new club.
