Harry Kane will miss Bayern Munich's preseason clash against former club Tottenham in Seoul, as confirmed by Vincent Kompany. The England captain made a move to Bayern last summer in a deal worth €120 million ($131m) and ended the season as the top-scorer in the Bundesliga with 36 goals. Despite his impressive performance, Bayern finished third in the table, 18 points behind champions Bayer Leverkusen.
Kane sustained a back injury just before this summer's Euros. Although he managed to score three goals for England as they reached the final, he appeared to lack sharpness in front of goal. Bayern is currently in South Korea as part of their preparations for the upcoming season and is scheduled to face Tottenham in the Coupang Player series on Aug. 3.
New Bayern boss Kompany mentioned in a news conference that Harry Kane, Alphonso Davies, Dayot Upamecano, and Kingsley Coman will not be present for the match against Tottenham but are expected to be available for the first cup game. Kane will have another chance to confront his former team when Bayern takes on Tottenham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Aug. 10. The 30-year-old departed Tottenham as the club's all-time leading scorer with 280 goals in all competitions.
Bayern's season will commence with a match against SSV Ulm on Aug. 16 in the DFB Cup first round.
