Harry Kane responds to Heung-min Son penalty question as Tottenham strike partner chases Golden Boot

Harry Kane has not ruled out stepping aside to allow Heung-min Son to take a potential Golden Boot-winning penalty as Tottenham look to confirm Champions League football at Norwich on Sunday.

Son's 21 Premier League goals this season trail top-scorer Mohamed Salah by one, with just one game to play, though the Liverpool star boasts six more assists which could be used as a tie-breaker.

The South Korean is enjoying his most prolific season to date and two goals against Norwich could seal a first Golden Boot with Salah an injury doubt for Liverpool’s home fixture against Wolves.

Spurs travel to the relegated Canaries on Sunday needing a point to confirm top four ahead of Arsenal, along with a six straight finish above their local rivals.

Kane is Tottenham's penalty taker, scoring his 20th consecutive spot-kick in the recent north London derby, and was asked by club legend Teddy Sheringham if he would step aside.

Quotes from Sheringham, said he spoke to Kane about if he would give Son a penalty to win the Golden Boot on Sunday.

Sheringham told Bookmakers.com: "Harry came and spoke to us after the game [a 1-0 win over Burnley], and I put a question to Harry that if we're [Spurs] beating Norwich two or three-nil, if the game is already won and there's another penalty, would you let Sonny have it so he could go for the Golden Boot?

"He just laughed, and he said, 'let's win the game first, let's get in that position."

Sheringham added: "He's a goal scorer, he didn't want to hand over a penalty straight away."
