Harry Kane refuses to rule out handing Son Heung-min penalty duties as Tottenham star chases Golden Boot

Harry Kane has refused to rule out handing Son Heung-min penalty duties in his Tottenham teammate’s pursuit of the Golden Boot.

A 21st goal of the Premier League campaign for the Korean against Arsenal on Thursday night moved him to within a goal of Mohamed Salah at the top of the scoring charts.

Regular penalty taker Kane stated that the Golden Boot may well be on Spurs’ minds if the opportunity presents itself in the final two games of the season.

“We’ll have to wait and see,” Kane remarked with a smile on Stadium Astro.

“Sonny’s been fantastic for us, another goal tonight and we’ve got an important game on Saturday which I’m sure he’ll be ready for.

“Hopefully we can win him the Golden Boot, that’d be nice. But of course he knows and we know the three points are the most important thing.

“We work on [our partnership], we train on it every day but I think it just happens over time, we’ve built up a good understanding - over the last two, three seasons especially. We just connect really well and his finishing is fantastic, for me he’s a joy to play with.”

Son was substituted off by Antonio Conte during the north London derby and admitted afterwards that he was “disappointed” to be denied the chance to grow his goal tally.
