Harry Kane insists looming World Cup not a distraction as Tottenham talisman responds to Bayern Munich links

Harry Kane has insisted that the looming World Cup is not a distraction from his club commitments with Tottenham.

There are just 41 days until England kick-off their Qatar campaign against Iran on November 21 but Spurs still have 10 fixtures until the Premier League pauses for the tournament, facing Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League tomorrow.

Kane has made his joint-best ever start to a League campaign, with eight goals in his first nine matches, but is yet to score in three European games.

Asked if the World Cup was on his mind, Kane said: "We have such a hectic schedule - we’re going to be playing, playing, playing.

"Normally you have a six-week build-up to a major tournament. Now we’re going to have one week to switch our minds onto that feeling, and switch our minds onto the biggest tournament in football.

"That will be probably the most difficult thing. But we do so much preparation here. We work so hard towards each game that we play for our club. The World Cup isn’t something I’m really thinking about.

"I try to concentrate on one game at a time and do my best. That’s what I’ll continue to do."

Kane, who has started every game so far this season, went down clutching his ankle at the end of Saturday's 1-0 win over Brighton, leaving the nation holding its collective breath.

The Three Lions captain is fit to start again on Wednesday night and says a positive outlook on injuries is important in the situation.

"I feel like whenever you think about injuries, whenever you think about getting injured, it almost has the wrong effect," he said.

"I go into every game trying to give 120 per cent for the team and that’s just the way football is. Sometimes you can be unfortunate and pick up injuries.

"From my point of view, I do a lot of stuff not just at the club but away from the club to make sure I recover well and put myself in the best physical condition I can to not get injured but of course we know in football anything can happen.

“But it doesn't change the way I play or the way I think. It would be wrong to do that. I go into every game trying to give my best for the team and the club. And try and focus on that."

Kane has been linked with a move to Frankfurt's Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich but insists he is focused on success with Spurs.

"I’m focused on Tottenham Hotspur and trying to do my best for us, for sure," he said. “Bayern are a top, top club but all my concentration is on Tottenham and trying to win tomorrow night."
