Harry Kane holds transfer 'meeting' amid Tottenham uncertainty and Bayern Munich interest

Tottenham striker Harry Kane has held a transfer meeting with Thomas Tuchel over a move to Bayern Munich this summer, according to reports. It comes amid uncertainty surrounding the future of the England international, who has just one-year remaining on his contract with Spurs.

The England international has often been linked with a move away from N17 in recent years, starting with interest from Manchester City that was denied. Manchester United, Real Madrid and PSG have all had a shot this summer, but seem to have moved on to other targets.

A high price set by chairman Daniel Levy may drive off suitors, but the 29-year-old's importance to the squad is tough to overstate. Kane scored 30 Premier League goals in 38 appearances last season, which would have been celebrated more had it not been for the performances of Golden Boot winner Erling Haaland.

The flurry of goals saw the striker become the club-record goal scorer, overtaking the late Sir Jimmy Greaves, despite the struggles of a team that eventually finished eighth. The summer has brought about a stick-or-twist moment for Levy when it comes to transfer offers though.

Will he accept an offer in the knowledge that there's only one-year remaining on Kane's deal and it can be used to rebuild or will he keep the star man and potentially risk him leaving on a free? That's likely something that has been questioned heading into the window itself, with new boss Ange Postecoglou taking charge of pre-season training for the coming weeks.

Whether he stays or leaves this summer or the next, teams are lining up to best convince the England international of a potential switch to their club. Bayern were claimed to have sent a £60million bid earlier in the window that may have been far short of the valuation but has given a signal of intent.

That has been taken a step further as SportBILD claim that the head coach of the Bundesliga champions, Thomas Tuchel, has held a meeting with Kane in London over a switch. The potential of winning the Champions League with Bayern is said to be of appeal to the striker too.

It remains to be seen whether the German club will be able to make a move that satisfies all parties this summer or risk waiting for a free transfer next summer, with other clubs also likely to look at that possibility. For Spurs, its a reminder of their vulnerable position in all of this and resurfaces questions over how they should approach the situation to get the maximum they can from it.
