Tottenham striker Harry Kane has previously hinted he would likely wait to make a move abroad, amid fresh interest from Bayern Munich.
The German champions have made an opening bid for the England captain, who has just one year left on his Spurs deal. However, his current club have said no as they insist they have no plans to part ways with the 29-year-old.
And Kane's previous comments suggest that the timing would need to be right for him - even if Bayern were to find agreement with Spurs - with his desire to break Alan Shearer's Premier League goals record clear. With Manchester United also mentioned as a potential destination, it could be a long summer for the striker.
Back in 2021, Kane was asked about playing overseas when speaking to Gary Neville on the Overlap. And while he refused to completely close the door on it, he did hint that it wasn't a priority in the prime of his career.
"Of course there's always the option of maybe moving abroad one day but I don't think that really interests me in the near future," Kane said. The striker was 27 at the time, though, and is now approaching his 30th birthday in the knowledge that Spurs won't have Champions League football on offer next season.
Since that interview, Kane has climbed the Premier League's all-time goalscorer rankings, taking second spot last term by overtaking Sergio Aguero, Andy Cole and Wayne Rooney. The Spurs star, who hit 30 league goals last term, is now just 47 adrift of all-time leader Shearer but would not be able to close the gap were he to move abroad.
“It’s always there in the back of my mind but I just take it game-by-game, season-by-season," Kane said after hitting his 200th Premier League goal in February. He added a further 13 before the close of the campaign, but it wasn't enough to secure European football for Spurs.

“It’s definitely there to be broken and I’m feeling good and feeling fit so we’ll see what happens. It’s been an amazing journey. I’ve been here since I was 11 years old, it’s 18 years of my life, a lot of hard work and dedication.
“I’m extremely proud to represent this club and score 267 goals for them and 200 Premier League goals for them is something I’ll never take for granted. I’ve just got to keep it going, score as many as I can and see what happens from there.”
Shearer agreed at the time that Kane was likely to surpass the 260 he scored in the Premier League across 14 seasons with Blackburn and Newcastle. "I know how much he wants it - he's told me - which is fine, because I was exactly the same," Shearer told Premier League media.
"If he stays fit and stays in this country then he'll do it. It's just a matter of when. He's doing what great goalscorers do, and there aren't many better than him."
