Harry Kane has hailed Thomas Tuchel as a “fantastic coach” ahead of his expected appointment as the next England manager.
The German is set to become only the third foreign manager in the country’s history after positive talks with the Football Association (FA).
Tuchel has been out of work since leaving Bayern Munich at the end of last season and is familiar with both Kane and a number of other senior Three Lions stars.
England’s record goalscorer left Tottenham for Bayern during Tuchel’s time in charge of the Bavarian giants and bagged 44 times in just 45 games under the 51-year-old, while registering 12 assists.
Speaking about the potential of Tuchel taking the England job, Kane told reporters: “To be honest, I don’t know, I haven’t been told anything.
“I know Thomas well from last year and [he’s a] fantastic coach and fantastic person, so I’m sure the guys at the FA will contact me when they know more about it.”
Tuchel also worked closely with the likes of Reece James, Ben Chilwell, Conor Gallagher, Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham and Raheem Sterling during his time in charge of Chelsea.
England are again in action next month when they wrap up their Nations League campaign with games against Greece and the Republic of Ireland.
