Harry Kane was on the scoresheet once more for Tottenham Hotspur as they did battle with Arsenal in Saturday's North London Derby - and broke a goalscoring record in the process.
The England captain was on hand to convert from the penalty spot after Thomas Partey had given the Gunners the lead at the Emirates Stadium with an exquisite strike. It was not to be for Spurs though as further goals from Gabriel Jesus and Granit Xhaka sealed victory for the hosts.
Yet despite defeat, Kane’s strike from the penalty spot saw him chalk up yet another milestone. He was already the outright highest scorer in North London derbies - his most recent strike representing his 14th in the fixture throughout his career.
That strike also saw him become the highest-ever goalscorer in London derbies having snatched the crown from Arsenal hero Thierry Henry in the process.
Kane now has 44 goals against teams based in London with the Frenchman only just behind on 43. Meanwhile, former Spurs striker Teddy Sheringham sits in third place in the standings with 32 strikes in London derbies throughout his career.

Kane’s recent milestone is not actually the first time that he has surpassed Henry with his goalscoring feats. He moved above the two-time Premier League winner in the all-time goalscoring charts back in March with a brace against Everton.
Following that achievement, he hailed Henry but reaffirmed his commitment to continue chasing down Alan Shearer’s record.
“Thierry was one of the greatest strikers we have seen, so nice to go above him in the scorers list and hopefully they keep coming,” he said to Sky Sports. "I feel like I’ve got plenty of years left in me, hopefully I can keep ticking off those names and helping the team with my goals.”
Kane now has seven goals in his ten appearances in all competitions this term having found an electric run of form in the league. He will certainly be hoping to extend that excellent run in midweek as Spurs come up against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League before they then travel to the AMEX Stadium to take on Brighton.
The 29-year-old will not have another chance to add to his impressive record in London derbies until after the World Cup with a clash against Brentford scheduled for Boxing Day.
Intriguingly, the Spurs striker has yet to score against the Bees in his career in three appearances and will no doubt hope to change that once the fixtures comes around.
