Prince Harry was left “infuriated” when King Charles told him he couldn’t pay for Meghan Markle in the future, a new royal book has claimed.
Harry’s relationship with his father and brother, and the rest of the royals slowly broke down over a number of years.
This led to the situation where the Sussexes’ were self-exiled from the Royal Family, releasing an explosive Netflix docu-series, a book, and doing numerous searing interviews about the Firm.
One new royal book, Our King, written by Robert Jobson, chronicles the deteriorating relationship between Harry and other senior royals.
It highlighted a growing rift between Harry and William, the animosity of which reportedly shocked Charles.
But it also told a shocking story of one incident in particular, which left Harry furious, the Mail reported, revealing extracts of the new book.
The incident took place during a meeting between the royal princes, and Charles, in the run-up to Harry and Meghan’s wedding.
Harry had been intending to reveal to his father his intention to wed Meghan - but William had already broke the news.
Then, after Harry told Charles himself, his older brother spoke first again, reportedly saying “Are you sure, Harold?”.
But what followed was a “bombshell”, where Charles told his youngest that he “couldn’t afford to pay for Meghan in the future” alongside Camilla, William and Catherine, and their young family.
This reportedly “infuriated” Harry.
To make matters worse, the blow to the prince came during worsening relations internally and growing perceived slights to Harry.
By that point, Mr Jobson wrote that Harry already thought William disapproved of his bride-to-be, and who was concerned it had become a “whirlwind affair”, the book claimed.
Alongside that, the first introductions between Meghan and Kate Middleton left the American actress with the impression that William’s wife was “stand-offish”.
The bombshell claims came as the relationship between the Sussexes’ and The Firm was at an all-time low.
Following the Queen’s death, Harry and Meghan released the explosive Netflix series where they spoke candidly about their time as working royals.
After that, Harry released his bombshell memoirs Spare where he made a number of shocking claims about the royals.
There were a number of other damning stories in Mr Jobson’s latest book, including how Kate Middleton found her Windsor walk with William and the Sussexes’, following the Queen’s death “one of the hardest things she’d ever had to do”.
Due to “ill-feeling” between the senior royal couples, the Princess of Wales is said to have struggled with the short time spent together.
It took place outside Windsor Castle, two days after the Queen had died.
William had the idea to walk together in an effort to project unity, but the book claimed this was just an “illusion”.
The Mail reported the book said: “Catherine later admitted to a senior royal that, such was the ill feeling between the two couples, the joint walkabout was one of the hardest things she'd ever had to do,”.
