Harry Connick Jr. says Frank Sinatra was ‘completely inappropriate’ with his wife Jill Goodacre

Harry Connick Jr. appeared on This Morning yesterday and talked about meeting the late Frank Sinatra - revealing he didn’t have positive memories of his time spent with the crooner.

He said he first met the Rat Pack member in the early 1990s, when Connick had to perform ‘Ol’ Blue Eyes’ in front of him. Connick Jr. choked during it – which is understandable, as that’s a lot of pressure. Then, the New Orleans-born artist apologized to Sinatra for his mistake.

The American Idol host said it was an “unpleasant experience” and explained “as much as I wanted to sing for him and everyone else...I was really nervous...blanked out.”

Connick says that he told Sinatra, “I’m sorry. I’m much better than what you saw.” He says Sinatra ignored him and instead focused on his then-girlfriend, now-wife, Jill Goodacre.

Goodacre was a Victoria’s Secret model in the 80s and 90s. Sinatra was seemingly smitten and according to Connick, his behavior was “completely inappropriate.”

“He looked at [her] and kind of placed her face in his hands and said, ‘You’re beautiful,’ and he kissed her right on the mouth, walked out of the elevator and that was the end of that,” Connick explained.

Host Phillip Schofield responded that Sinatra’s behavior would be deemed “unacceptable” in the post-#MeToo era and Connick responded that “It was probably unacceptable then.”

The interaction has now become a running joke in the family, with Goodacre often teasing her husband about it. “I think my affection for him made [his snub] hilarious for her,” he explained.

Connick and Goodacre have been married since 1994 and have three daughters.
