Harry Brook has enjoyed a dream tour of Pakistan, crashing three consecutive centuries in Rawalpindi, Multan and now Karachi as England hunt a historic 3-0 series whitewash.
And while striking a superb 111 to help England earn a slender first innings lead, Brook broke a 38-year-old record held by David Gower. Having smashed 468 runs at an average of 93.60, Brook now holds the record for the most runs scored by an Englishman in a Test series in Pakistan.
That record was previously held by Gower, who scored 449 runs at 112.25 back in 1984. And Brook's third hundred of the series has been described as his best one yet on what has been a "tour of dreams" for the 23-year-old.
"Brook was terrific," former England spinner Vic Marks said on BBC Test Match Special. "To be involved in a run-out with one of your best players [ Ben Stokes ] is tough.
"I think this was his best century so far. It wasn't as dynamic but the score was close and he was involved in a mix up and despite it still got his century."
Brook's England teammate Stuart Broad, who is missing this tour on paternity leave, praised his "delightful" ability to attack both the seamers and the spinners. "Brook is playing beautifully," Broad told Sky Sports.
"When Stokesy was run out the game was in the balance slightly but for a young player without a huge amount of international experience to continue playing exactly how he was with the confidence and fearlessness [is excellent].
"He has such an array of shots – the way he hits seam and spin through extra-cover is delightful. He has had the tour of dreams. He has a great hunger of hitting boundaries and scoring runs.
"He plays with such freedom, but he plays classy shots. He makes it so difficult to bowl at. He has shown a lot of different qualities in conditions that are foreign to him. He looks calm and at ease, which is a great place to start your Test career."
