Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's future is potentially "hanging in the balance" royal commentator Angela Levin has claimed.
The writer alleged that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have evolved on a "journey" from a "beloved" royal couple to one which "courts controversy at every step", the Express reports.
In an op-ed published in Sky News Australia which compared the Sussexes to the Prince and Princess of Wales, Ms Levin pointed to Harry and Meghan's multi-million dollar Spotify contract being cancelled amid reports that their deal with Netflix is in a "precarious" position to back up her claim.
She wrote: "The Sussexes’ deal with Netflix is now said to be in a precarious position, with Meghan reportedly holed away at home working on a feminist prequel of Dickens’ Great Expectations called Bad Manners.
"... Harry, however, will be far away hoping to make a solo documentary for Netflix about the people and wildlife in Africa."
The author of Harry: Conversations with the Prince went on to claim that Netflix has still not officially accepted either Harry or Meghan's offerings.
Ms Levin questioned in her opinion whether the Duke would even be granted entry back into the US following his planned trip to Africa given his drug-taking confession which he revealed in tell-all memoir Spare.
In the US, known drug use can be grounds for visa applications to be rejected which is where Harry now lives with his wife Meghan and their two children.
The forms used for such applications question current and past drug use although it's not known what type of visa Harry is in the US on.
Ms Levin concluded: "Will he be allowed back into America after admitting he has taken illegal drugs? Will he even try and when will he see his children?
"Much like their engagement with Netflix Harry and Meghan’s future may be hanging in the balance."
Contrary to this, culture and brand specialist Rochelle White told Mirror US that Harry's interests lie in remaining away from the spotlight and focusing on philanthropy with former Suits actress Meghan being more comfortable in the public eye.
Her comments come ahead of the release of Heart of Invictus, the Sussexes' latest Netflix pitch which will focus on the lead up to the Invictus Games in 2020 which is an international multi-sport event for injured and sick servicemen and women that Harry created in 2014.
The TV series will follow a group of service members who have all experienced life-changing injuries or health battles on their journeys towards the Invictus Games at the Hague three years ago.
Ms White said: "I feel that this is pretty much on brand for him. Meghan is used to being in the public eye before she even got with Harry, and I feel that out of both of them, she is the one that everyone would want to speak to and work with."
She noted that Meghan who recently signed a contract with the agent Ari Emanuel is poised to become a brand, building on what she started in relation her old lifestyle blog, The Tig which she shut down once she became a royal.
