Harry and Meghan's second Netflix trailer drops with docu-series date confirmed

Hot on the heels of the first, a second trailer for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Netflix docu-series has been released. In it, there is confirmation of when the bombshell 6-parter will air. The brand new promo clip emerged on Monday, December 5, and confirms the first episode of the show will air on Thursday, December 8. Further episodes will drop the Thursday after, December 15.

At the start of the trailer, Prince Harry says: "It's really hard to look back on it now and go, what on earth happened?" He goes on to talk about their lives in the royal family and the hierarchy within, adding: "There's a hierarchy of the family. You know, there's leaking but there's also planting of stories. It's a dirty game."

As the clip continues, Meghan is shown wiping away tears saying: "I realised they're never going to protect you". The new trailer follows the first official teaser for Harry & Meghan, which launched last week coinciding with the Prince and Princess of Wales' US visit for The Earthshot Prize Awards.

In that trailer Meghan appears to be wiping away tears with both hands, while Harry, in the background, sits and tilts his head back, seemingly in distress. Harry is heard saying: “No one sees what’s happening behind closed doors… I had to do everything I could to protect my family”, while Meghan says, “When the stakes were this high, doesn’t it make more sense to hear our story from us?”

The Sussexes’ behind-the-scenes Netflix docuseries has sparked controversy already with one source in contact with a Netflix production insider saying: “I genuinely think it’s going to be worse than the royals can imagine."

The Mirror wrote that a royal source says King Charles and Prince William will hold crisis talks to respond to any allegations of racism or ill-treatment of Harry and Meghan in their TV series. Senior aides to the monarch and Prince and Princess of Wales plan to watch the three episodes in order to react swiftly to any further damaging accusations against the monarchy.

A senior royal source said: “There is a completely united front from the King and his family concerning the numerous attempts to privately make peace with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, which sadly have once again resulted in the other side wishing to air their repeated grievances to the world.

“If there is a need to respond to anything in the upcoming series then you can be assured that response will be swift and robust.”

Netflix has rated the show a 15 as it contains "language and discrimination". It has also revealed more information about the documentary, which has been split into six episodes.

A spokesman for Netflix said: "In an unprecedented and in-depth documentary series, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex share the other side of their high-profile love story. Across six episodes, the series explores the clandestine days of their early courtship and the challenges that led to them feeling forced to step back from their full-time roles in the institution.

"With commentary from friends and family, most of whom have never spoken publicly before about what they witnessed, and historians who discuss the state of the British Commonwealth today and the royal family’s relationship with the press, the series does more than illuminate one couple’s love story, it paints a picture of our world and how we treat each other.

"From the critically-acclaimed, two-time Academy Award-nominated and Emmy-winning director Liz Garbus, Harry & Meghan is a never-before-seen look at one of the most-discussed couples in history."
