Harry and Meghan’s schedule this week as they visit the UK and Germany

Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle are visiting the UK this week. The private trip will mainly be used for catching up with some of the charities the couple works with.

A spokesperson for the Sussexes said: “Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, are delighted to visit with several charities close to their hearts in early September.” The couple will also visit Germany.

The last time they came to the UK was for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in June, when Queen Elizabeth met Harry and Meghan's daughter Lilibet for the first time.

The visit begins today (September 5) with Harry and Meghan attending the One Young World 2022 Summit in Manchester. The annual summit sets out to “bring together more than 2,000 of the brightest young leaders from every country and sector, working to accelerate social impact both in-person and digitally”.

During their time at the summit, the Sussexes will be meeting a group of delegates working on gender equality. They are expected to spend just one day in Manchester.

September 6

The following day (September 6) the Sussexes will fly to Dusseldorf in Germany. The visit is to mark one year to go until the start of Invictus Games Düsseldorf 2023. The Duke of Sussex is the Patron of the Invictus Games Foundation.

The Invictus Games Düsseldorf 2023 will bring together more than 500 competitors from 20 nations to compete in a series of adaptive sports. Events will be held in and around the Arena Sportspark over the course of a week, with further details to be announced.

September 8

The couple will then return to the UK for the WellChild Awards 2022 on Thursday, September 8. The awards, in association with GSK, celebrate the inspirational qualities of the UK’s seriously ill children and young people, along with those who go the extra mile to make a difference to their lives.

Prince Harry has worked with the charity for several years as a Patron. He aims to spread awareness and encourage people to participate in nominations.

He said recently: “Like so many, my spirit is consistently renewed by the strength and fortitude of the WellChild community. These children and their parents never cease to amaze and inspire me, and I cherish every opportunity I have to connect with them.

"Every year, I look forward to honouring the incredible recipients of the WellChild Awards, and I encourage everyone in the UK to get involved this year. The last two years has been hard on everyone, but for these families far harder than most.”

Last year’s awards saw the winners attending a star-studded event In Kew Gardens, London where they had the chance to chat with many of the celebrity guests and WellChild supporters, including Prince Harry.

Will Harry and Meghan meet any other royals this week?

The trip is not an official visit, so no formal meetings are planned with other members of the Royal Family. However, there is a possibility that meetings could take place informally with the Queen and others.
