The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have already kept their vow to stand on their own two feet as records show they are now financially independent.
When announcing they were stepping back as senior members of the Royal Family, Prince Harry and wife Meghan said they would work to support themselves.
Accounts revealed by the Sovereign Grant report show the likes of the Queen, Prince Charles and the Cambridges continue to incur massive costs.
But the Sussexes - enjoying life in the California sunshine - no longer receive any funds from the Prince of Wales.
A source close to Prince Charles said the Duke and Duchess "should be congratulated on achieving their goal" in raking in millions from the private sector”.
It comes despite using their new found roles to routinely slam the royal family on global television interviews.
Meanwhile the remaining royals have collectively cost the British taxpayers more than £100million, as regular members of the public struggle to make ends meet in the cost of living crisis.
The core Sovereign Grant is calculated based on 15% of the income account net surplus of the Crown Estate for the financial year two years previous.
The Crown Estate surplus for the financial year 2019-20 amounted to £345.0 million, thereby producing a core Sovereign Grant of £51.8 million for 2021-22.
However, official expenditure was more than the Sovereign Grant and the supplementary income earned, with net expenditure for the first time ever of £102.4 million, a 17% increase on the previous year.
This was driven by spending totalling £54.6m on the Reservicing of Buckingham Palace – an increase of 41%.
In 2020 as they announced Megxit, the Sussexes said: “After many months of reflection and internal discussions we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution.
“We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen.
"It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, we feel prepared to make this adjustment."
Since stepping back from the royal family, Harry and Meghan have signed several deals that are thought to be worth millions of dollars.
One is with Netflix , which they will work with to create "content that informs but also gives hope".
It is unknown exactly how much the deal is worth but it has been reported it could be worth $112 million.
Programmes in the works are believed to be a documentary about the Invictus Games which Harry founded and a children's series about a young girl's adventures called Pearl , where Meghan will act as executive producer.
Other deals include a deal with Spotify, said to be worth £30 million to produce podcasts promoting “diverse and inspiring voices” under the couple's brand Archewell Audio.
