Harry and Meghan Netflix series trailer appears to use paparazzi footage unrelated to the couple

The explosive trailer for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle 's new Netflix series has sparked a huge reaction ahead of its release on the streaming platform this Thursday.

But it has been pointed out that the teaser appears to include footage of the paparazzi filming events that are unrelated to the pair, in sections of the trailer aiming to show how the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been hounded by the press. Clips showing crowds of photographers are played alongside footage of Princess Diana in one part of the teaser as Harry draws comparisons between Meghan and his mother.

Harry says in a voiceover as the paparazzi footage plays: "The pain and suffering of women marrying into this institution, this feeding frenzy. I was terrified - I didn’t want history to repeat itself.”

However, one of the clips that plays as Harry speaks appears to be of photographers waiting for Katie Price outside Crawley Magistrates Court in December last year, according to the PA news agency. And this appears not to be the only use of footage in the one-minute trailer that is unrelated to the couple.

In another part of the teaser, a clip shows photographers huddling around a car as Meghan says of the royal family: "I realised they are never going to protect you." But this footage seems to be of Donald Trump 's former lawyer Michael Cohen being chased by the paparazzi.

Elsewhere in the trailer, a montage of clips is shown as Harry says: "There’s a hierarchy of the family, you know, there’s leaking, but there’s also planting of stories. It’s a dirty game."

One of the clips used in the section shows a photographer on a balcony taking a snap of Meghan and Harry walking on the path below with their son Archie. However, this footage appears to be of an accredited photographer taking a photo during a royal event where Harry and Meghan met Desmond Tutu in Cape Town.

It comes after it was reported that another clip used in the teaser for the upcoming documentary series meant to depict the couple being hounded by the press was in fact taken at a Harry Potter movie premiere several years before Meghan and Harry met. Volume I of the documentary Harry & Meghan will be available on Netflix from December 8, followed by Volume II on December 15.
