Prince Harry and Meghan Markle laugh and smile on kiss-cam at basketball game

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were captured smiling and giggling on a kiss cam at a Los Angeles basketball game, just days after it emerged only one of them would attend the Coronation.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex laughed awkwardly when they were caught on camera at the NBA basketball game last night, but despite Harry’s apparent enthusiasm Meghan seemingly declined a kiss as they appeared on the big screen in front of 20,000 people.

The Royal couple were at the Crypto.com Arena in downtown LA when they appeared on the jumbotron.

Harry had been talking to another spectator as they were shown on screen, leaving Meghan waving and smiling.

Despite thousands clapping and cheering, encouraging them to kiss, Meghan seemed reluctant, even as Harry seemingly leaned in for a smooch.

But she put a hand on his arm, and he grimaced in jest as Meghan laughed.

This took place as the LA Lakers played the Memphis Grizzlies last night in a playoff game, and comes just days after it emerged that Harry would attend the King’s Coronation without Meghan.

Whilst the Prince will jet across the Atlantic for the May 6 event, Meghan will remain at home with their children, and celebrate their son, Archie's birthday, which falls on the same day.

The announcement followed weeks of reports and suggestions of turmoil between the self-exiled Royal couple and The Firm over their Coronation appearance.

The pair delighted fans at the game as Meghan made her second public outing in a matter of days after she made a surprise appearance introducing her friend, Misan Harriman’s, TED Talk.

Her appearance emerged after Misan posted a photo on Instagram showing Meghan on the big screen, smiling as she spoke.

He wrote: "The Duchess of Sussex was kind enough to introduce me unto the stage for my @ted Thank you for the support Meg."

It was also Meghan's first appearance since reports surfaced that she wrote a personal letter to the King over her concerns of racism within the Royal Family.

The Duchess of Sussex is understood to have sent the correspondence in the wake of the her explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey, where she alleged comments were made about the colour of their unborn son Archie's skin.

In the interview, Meghan claimed a member of the royal family had speculated about how dark their unborn son's skin would be. The claims in March 2021 plunged the monarchy into crisis as the Windsors faced allegations of racism.

It was reported that Meghan's letter was sent in response to a letter from Charles, in which he expressed his sadness over the split within the family.

The letters are also said to make clear the identity of the senior royal who made the comment, with both Meghan and Charles acknowledging that the remark was not made maliciously.
