Harry and Meghan have daughter Lilibet christened as Royal Family 'snub' invites

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have had their daughter christened at their home in California, but it has been revealed that none of the Royal Family were in attendance.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex' second child was christened at their home last Friday, reports the Mirror. There were approximately 20 to 30 people in attendance at the ceremony, but no royals - despite reports family members were invited.

Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, was joined at the ceremony by Lilibet's godfather Tyler Perry and an unnamed godmother.

A spokesperson for Harry and Meghan has confirmed: "I can confirm that Princess Lilibet Diana was christened on Friday, March 3 by the Archbishop of Los Angeles, the Rev John Taylor."

This statement is the first time that Lilibet has been referred to as a Princess, with her entitlement to the official title became clear following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

As King Charles ascended to the throne, both Lilibet and her older brother, Archie, were able to receive the titles of Prince and Princess - but Buckingham Palace has yet to confirm if the pair have been given them.

It is now understood that these official titles will be used in a formal setting by Harry and Meghan - but it won't be used in conventional, everyday times.

The couple are keen not to deny their children from their birth-right, but will give them the choice when they're older to keep using, or drop the titles.

Meanwhile, a source told PEOPLE magazine that Meghan and Harry extended invites to Charles, Camilla, Kate and William - but they were not in attendance for the ceremony.

According to the magazine, the attendees were treated to a party after the ceremony, as three-year-old Archie was seen dancing with his little sister.

They also added that Lilibet's godfather Tyler Perry flew in a 10-person choir from Atlanta to sing at the christening, with the group performing 'Oh Happy Day' and 'This Little Light of Mine'. The second song was also performed at Harry and Meghan's wedding in 2018.

The christening of the one-year-old royal comes after it had been addressed in Prince Harry and Meghan's Netflix docuseries back in December.

In the series, godfather Tyler Perry recalled the moment he was asked to carry out the important role for the royal couple.

Tyler said: "I take a minute to take that in, and I thought I’d be honoured. I’d absolutely be honoured.

"And I got off the phone, took it all in, then I called them back, I go ‘Ah hold on a second, does this mean we got to go over there and do all of that in the church with them and figure all that out, because I don’t want to do that.

"Maybe we can do a little private ceremony here and let that be that and if you have to do it there then it’s OK."
