Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been accused of betraying the late Queen 's trust as they release their controversial Netflix documentary.
Royal sources reportedly believe the couple have not honoured an agreement made with the monarch at Sandringham back in January 2020, which was reached shortly before they moved to the United States.
Following the meeting, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex pledged that “everything they do" would "continue to uphold the values of Her Majesty”.
A Palace statement released on behalf of the late Queen at the time also read: “Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved members of my family."
“It is my whole family’s hope that today’s agreement allows them to start building a happy and peaceful new life.”
But the couple's loyalty to Queen Elizabeth II and her legacy has since been put under question following a string of high-profile attacks on The Firm, including their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey last year.
Their tell-all documentary - released today - now looks set to spill a range of royal secrets and even lash out at the institution itself, prompting one royal expert to conclude the truce was now well and truly broken.
Speaking to the Express just hours before the series dropped, royal author Phil Dampier argued that the couple have disrespected both the late monarch and Harry's own father, King Charles III.
He said: “Whatever their alleged grievances, the way that Harry and Meghan have behaved is a total betrayal exclusive of the Queen’s legacy.
"They have acted in a completely unacceptable way despite the attempts of the late Queen and his father to hold out an olive branch.”
It comes as the Royal Family prepares for a likely media storm surrounding the release of the six-part docuseries, titled Harry & Meghan, with the first three episodes uploaded onto the streaming platform on Thursday.
The show will reportedly be "utterly explosive", experts claim, and it is thought could portray several members of the Royal Family in an unflattering way.
One source in contact with a Netflix production insider said: “I genuinely think it’s going to be worse than the royals can imagine.
“I’m told that it’s going to be utterly explosive and will be very damaging.”
Prince William and Katherine, Princess of Wales are meanwhile preparing for a special concert at Westminster Abbey next week that is expected to feature a tribute to the late Queen.
Spearheaded by Princess Kate and supported by The Royal Foundation, the service will "recognise the selfless efforts of individuals, families and communities across the UK", while also celebrating some of the late Queen's values.
King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla are expected to be in attendance.
