Heartbreaking footage shows almost 600 penguins washed up on a beach after a devastating cyclone.
The tragic video shows penguins washed up on a beach after a cyclone caused havoc in southern Brazil.
Footage filmed in Santa Catarina shows the aftermath of the storm which saw wildlife washed up on the coast on the 10 August.
The distressing photos and video show the animals seen lined up on the beach, after having been found dead on the coast.
The harrowing discovery was made by A3, a local animal association that operates in the region, which found 622 penguins – 596 were dead.
Other birds, turtles and other animals were also discovered at the site by the team.
According to a representative from A3, it's not possible to confirm whether all of the penguins were killed by the cyclone or if other factors were at play.
The penguins migrate to the Santa Catarina during this time of year and many of the younger penguins often perish during the journey.
Many of the animals found on the beach were in an advanced state of decomposition.
This means they may have died earlier than believed and were washed ashore due to strong waves following the cyclone.
