The Harris campaign recently launched two new ads targeting Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) voters in key battleground states. These ads aim to highlight the differences between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, emphasizing Harris's efforts to expand health care protections and combat anti-Asian hate.
These two ads mark the first campaign-specific advertisements tailored to AANHPI communities since Harris secured the Democratic presidential nomination. They are set to air in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin as part of a larger $90 million paid media buy for the final three weeks of August. The ads will be featured on both television and digital platforms.
A spokesperson for Harris-Walz AANHPI, Andrew Peng, stated that these new ads serve as a reminder to Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander voters about the clear choice in this election for their communities.
The campaign's investment in paid media to reach this demographic has been steadily increasing. Following the launch of the national AANHPI organizing and engagement program in July, the Harris campaign has expanded its team with additional staff dedicated to AANHPI voter outreach. They are also planning specific direct voter contact activities across battleground states, including in-language canvassing and phone banking.
