Hard working mum gets well-earned pamper session after winning our competition

Mum-of-two Lyn Graham celebrated in style after winning The Courier and The Centre, Livingston’s Mother’s Day makeover competition.

The lucky mum from Armadale was chosen out of hundreds of nominations for an exclusive pamper prize, worth £500, thanks to a heartfelt nomination by her mum, Mary Fotheringham who said she was “a wonderful mum and this could be such a wonderful treat for her”.

When she arrived at The Centre for her special makeover, Lyn, mum to daughters Erin and Allie and who is a radiographer at the Western General Hospital, was treated first to a No7 beauty consultation and makeover with Lorna at Boots who spent time discussing which make up she would normally wear and took her out of her comfort zone with some fresh spring colours.

She was also presented with a Boots goody bag containing lots of fantastic gifts including a makeup bag,
nail varnish, eye shadow palette, mascara, lipstick, lip gloss and moisturiser.

Next up was a personal shopping experience with Caroline Phipps, who began her career with style-icon Mary Portas and has worked with clients and celebrities, including Christian Lacroix, Models 1, Davina McCall, Jerry Hall and Emilia Fox, and was also a fashion writer for many publications like GQ Magazine and Closer Magazine.

They perused all of Lyn’s favourite shops, including River Island where she picked up a stunning halter neck blouse and New Look for a beautiful dress covered with hearts – not something that she would normally
go for but with Caroline’s gentle coaxing, picked it up, tried it on and loved it!

The highlight of the shopping spree and favourite find was a gorgeous on-trend pastel pink, ruched sleeve blazer and beautiful wide-leg, blue trousers with side stripes from M&S, perfect for a couple of catch-ups with friends that are planned for the coming weeks. Lyn’s prize also included a gel manicure at Diva Nails, where she went for a red shade to inject even more colour into her new look.

Whilst Lyn was enjoying her shopping spree, the girls and Grandma headed to Aerial Adventures where Erin enjoyed a run around the soft play area and Mary relaxed with a cuppa while Allie had a nap.

The day culminated with a bite to eat with her mum and the girls at their favourite restaurant at The Centre, Livingston, Stack & Still, picking her go-to dish on the menu, pancakes with BBQ pork, while Erin loved her pancakes with ice cream!

Mary and Lyn left with big smiles on their faces after being presented with a bunch of flowers each from M&S!

The girls were also given a special gift – Erin, a Walter the Puppy Easter treat, also from M&S, and a toy giraffe from The Entertainer for Allie.

Lyn said: “I couldn’t believe my mum had entered the competition to nominate me and actually won. I was over the moon!

“We had such a fabulous day and I felt truly pampered throughout the entire experience.

“I can’t thank everyone at The Centre, Livingston enough – it really was perfect from start to finish.”

Katie Gallacher, marketing manager at The Centre, Livingston, said: “Huge congratulations to our Mother’s Day winner, Lyn, who really deserved our special personal shopping and pampering treat at The Centre, Livingston – and lunch too at her favourite restaurant.

“It was lovely to see all three generations enjoying their day out together, including Erin who had lots of fun at the soft play at Aerial Adventures.”
