One of the great things about HBO’s Hard Knocks, in addition to the unrivaled access to the action on the field it offers to fans, is how it gives viewers a look at the subjects’ life away from football.
Take, for example, Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel. He and his wife, Katie, have a daughter Ayla, and making time for her can be difficult with all the demands of his job. In a new clip from the in-season edition of Hard Knocks following the Dolphins, McDaniel gives his wife credit for picking up the parenting slack, calling her “a Jedi master.”
The clip shows the McDaniel family spending some time together at the Dolphins’ practice facility, and Ayla’s hilarious interaction with the HBO camera crew.

McDaniel can’t be spending too much time at home during the season, so it’s nice to see that he’s still able to carve out some family time at work. And having HBO’s cameras capture moments like these just makes McDaniel even more likable than he already was.
