Happy Valley fans in shock at scenes of "extreme violence" minutes in

Fans sitting down to watch the last ever episode of Happy Valley were reeling in shock over "extreme violence" just minutes in. One viewer shared a hiding behind a pillow GIF as they saw killer Tommy Lee Royce fight back at an attempt to take his life.

Deciding that killer Tommy was a liability after helping him to go into hiding after he escaped from court, mob boss Darius Knezevic's henchman arrived to silence him for good and urged him to climb into the boot of their car. After realising what they were up to, he refused to get in the boot, returned to his hideaway house to grab a kitchen knife previously used to chop beetroot and insisted on getting in the back.

Viewers were wincing as things turned nasty in the car with Tommy making use of the knife to attack the thugs. Then the bloody battle continued with Tommy being strangled before using a rock to stave in his last remaining attacker.
