Happy Valley fans are all saying the same thing as finale 'best series ending ever'

As the final episode of Happy Valley aired on BBC One last night (February 5), the people of the UK held their breath to see if the show would live up to the hype.

And thankfully, unlike the Line of Duty finale, this series ending answered questions and left viewers reeling from some incredible acting. Thousands took to social media to praise the television show, with some claiming this was the "best series ending" they've ever seen. One Twitter user wrote: "So happy Happy Valley was in my TV repertoire Hands down best series EVER!"

Another was especially pleased with the character lead's accent and upbringing, as they said: "#HappyValley was brilliant. Nothing quite like watching well written, strong female leads kick a**. Even more so when it’s a working class Yorkshire woman!

"The industry needs more of regional accents, more mature female leads and more women writing women! Truly obsessed."

A third pointed out a tense scene between main characters Catherine and Tommy, where the main protagonist and antagonist met inside Catherine's home.

The viewer wrote: "Still reeling from that kitchen scene. That was incredible tv. #HappyValley #HappyValleyFinale."

More comments read: "So sad #HappyValley is finished for good now but what a finale and close to the show! What an actress Sarah Lancashire is, such a great performance throughout the entirety of the show."

One noted: "I'd almost forgotten how good #HappyValley was until I watched the first episode of series 3. And last night was the perfect ending - something so hard to get right. My favourite line? "There's a grandmother." Just gripping, marvellous television."

And another added: "Many finale's are a let down but #HappyValley wrapped up brilliantly. Another masterclass from Sarah Lancashire and James Norton held his own opposite her. Sally Wainwright's script, a masterpiece in storytelling."

Finally, one concluded: "And breathe…. Fantastic finale! #HappyValley Praise for all involved."

You can catch up on all three seasons of Happy Valley on the BBC iPlayer - just watch out for spoilers on social media.
