'Happy to be home': Clement buzzing to make Ibrox return as he explains Bajrami call

Philippe Clement hopes being back at Ibrox can work in Rangers' favour after he confessed that "no team in the world" would want to play all their games away from home. 

Delays affecting the development of the Copland Road Stand meant the Light Blues had to make a temporary switch across the city to Hampden Park. 

Fans voted with their feet and left the stadium looking sparse at times during that period away from the norm, and Clement is just ecstatic to be playing a match inside their iconic home this afternoon as they welcome Dundee in the Premier Sports Cup quarter-finals.

"Yeah we feel at home again," the Rangers manager stated. "It makes a big difference to playing at Hampden, it's another atmosphere, the fans are on top of the pitch, they give their energy to the team. So, yeah we are happy to be home. 

"We were playing all the games like away games, and there's not one team in the world who would want that. You know much energy these fans can give in the moment that the team's performing well.

"I do not want to use Hampden as an excuse [for not getting performances he expects of team] but it is a difference. It is what it is. We have to adapt.

"It's a big challenge because the only important thing is winning all the games and we have a big rebuild with a lot of new players. They need to adapt to the club, the fans, the teammates, the way of playing and a lot more things. It's normal from the first second you come to a new club that you are not at your best. We are still busy with a lot of players in that process. 

"The fans are realistic. They know we have less money than others, so you must do things in another way. They know players left for free and we had to pay to replace them.

"I think the positive thing is that we brought in a lot of young players as it is necessary for the club to create profit in the future. It's not just the short-term, it's about the long-term also."

Explaining his decision to start £3.4million summer signing, Nadim Bajrami, for the first time, Clement told BBC Scotland: "You will see that he's a good technical player that can make the difference in the last final third. He's smart and makes good choices on the ball, but also works hard for the team.

"So, he can help us a lot from the side's playing as a winger, but also as a number 10. He's going to be a good asset for this team."
