Canadian-Chinese star Kris Wu, who was born on November 6, 1990 in Guangzhou and moved to Vancouver at the age of 10, turns 28 today.
Since launching his career as a member of K-pop band EXO, Wu has become China’s most influential pop star, leading the trends in music, films and TV.
He’s also fashion’s new favourite, having mastered an androgynous – or, as he as a rapper would say, “dope” – style that mixes funky street elements and high fashion. The trendsetter represents China’s young consumers, and is the go-to ambassador for luxury brands when they want to appeal to the younger generation. He has been the face of Bulgari, Burberry and, most recently, Louis Vuitton.

Last month, the musician attended the 2018 American Music Awards at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California, where he lives from time to time. Wu brought street style to the red carpet of the AMAs by matching a Louis Vuitton floral print jacket from the 2019 spring collection with a rapper’s staples – ripped jeans, high-top sneakers and gold chains.

Wu was named Fan Fave New Artist at this year’s iHeartRadio MMVAs.
He paired a Givenchy double-breasted suit with a simple black turtleneck while channelling his hip-hop style with his daily essentials: chain jewellery and stackable rings.
In 2016, celebrating its 160th anniversary and strengthening its market presence in China, London-based brand Burberry assigned Wu – China’s millennial influencer – as its global ambassador and brought him to England to walk for its menswear show.

As a hip-hop enthusiast, the songwriter is an avid fan of streetwear brands such as Supreme and Off-White, and a collector of exclusive sneakers. He rocked a red jacket from Off-White in the music video of his 2018 new song, Hold Me Down, accessorised with an Emanuele Bicocchi ring and a golden Greek Medusa piece from Versace.
