A woman has died after a fire in a maisonette in north London on Tuesday night.
Firefighters were called to the blaze in Hampstead’s Netherhall Gardens around 7.15pm and found a blaze at the ground-floor maisonette.
Part of the four-roomed maisonette and first floors of a converted semi-detached house were damaged by fire.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued a woman from the ground floor property who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The blaze was brought under control by 8.36pm. Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters from West Hampstead and Kentish Town fire stations attended the scene.
The London Fire Brigade said the cause of the fire was still under investigation. The woman’s identity and age have not been released.
