A POLICE officer has been taken to hospital after an incident in Hamilton.
The male cop was involved in a collision this afternoon with a vehicle on Low Waters Road at around 1pm today.
Critical care paramedics arrived on the scene before the officer was rushed to Wishaw General Hospital.
We previously reported how cop cars and ambulances have been spotted at the busy area after an incident kicked off this afternoon.
The road remains closed between Downie Street and Hall Street with a police cordon in place as investigations continue.
One witness said: “It all happened very quickly.
“Police have tapped off the area and won't let anyone near it. I saw the man being taken away in an ambulance.
"It looked like he was injured, especially his head and arm.
“The full thing is so scary, I don’t know what caused it but I hope that person is okay.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We are investigating a collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle on Low Waters Road in Hamilton around 1pm on Friday, 30 August, 2024.
"The pedestrian, a male police officer, was taken to hospital for treatment.
"Officers remain and the scene and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances."
“We received a call at 13:01 to attend an incident on Birkhall Road, Hamilton.
Scottish Ambulance Services said: “We dispatched one ambulance, one trauma team, and one critical care paramedic to the scene.
“One patient was transported to Wishaw General Hospital.”
Traffic Scotland said: “Police have advised Low Waters Road, Hamilton is CLOSED due to an ongoing police incident.
“The road is closed between Downie Street and Hall Street.”
